Dear Friends, Community celebrated its 65th anniversary with an Open House on October 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Hundreds of people stopped in during the three day event. It was gratifying to see such a large turnout. I enjoyed talking with many long-time customers. It was also a pleasure for me to personally meet a number of new customers and neighbors for the first time.

During the past 65 years, Community has grown in financial strength. Today the bank’s capital or net worth is over 15% of total assets. This level greatly exceeds federal requirements to be considered “well capitalized,” and keeps Community among the strongest financial institutions. Its capital level makes Community a great place for area residents to put their savings. It is also a reflection of the bank’s guiding principal set by my grandfather and Community’s founder: “The safety and protection of our members’ funds is always our most important consideration.

In addition, all deposits at Community are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) up to $250,000, according to FDIC rules and regulations. This insurance level is in effect through 2013. Deposit insurance from the FDIC adds another layer of protection for your money. It is part of Community’s program to make the bank a safe place for you to invest your savings.

Community is a neighborhood bank with products designed for local residents. While many area banks have been bought by entities from far and wide, Community remains independent. It is mutually owned and locally managed. Many of its staff have worked at the bank for years. They know many customers and many customers know and trust them. It is another important part of what we call Community’s Total Service.

The past year has been very difficult for many banks and other financial institutions, just as it has been difficult for many families. With its high level of capital and prudent investment practices, however, Community has survived this economic downturn and it remains very strong financially. Community is well positioned to serve its customers and neighbors in the years to come, and we look forward to the future.

If you are a customer, I thank you. If not, I invite you to give us a try. We look forward to meeting you and making Community, Your Personal Neighborhood Bank.
